As reported by John DiStaso at WMUR, former Executive Councilor and former Republican National Committeewoman Ruth Griffin has endorsed Eddie Edwards' campaign for Congress. Jackie Eastwood of Dover and Toyota of Portsmouth owner Jim Boyle have also announced their support of the campaign.
We’ve learned that later Thursday, Edwards will roll out his supporters since announcing, and a Republican icon is heading the list.
Party matriarch Ruth Griffin is on board, saying, “I have spent decades working to elect strong Republicans to office in New Hampshire, and I am supporting Eddie Edwards for Congress. Eddie represents the very best of the next generation of Republican leaders.”
Griffin was a member of the Executive Council for 20 years, retiring in 2007. She is also a former state senator and state representative. She’s been a New Hampshire Republican National Committeewoman.
Griffin was a member of the Portsmouth Board of Education, the Portsmouth Police Commission and the Portsmouth Housing Authority.
She is also respected and beloved by GOP faithful.
Also backing Edwards is Jackie Eastwood of Durham, retired co-founder and owner of Salient Surgical Technologies and a prominent party donor. Eastwood was a member of GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney’s New Hampshire finance leadership team in 2012.
Toyota of Portsmouth owner Jim Boyle is also on board with Edwards. Boyle was a prominent Donald Trump supporter and hosted a rally for the then-presidential nominee at his dealership in mid-October, just a few weeks before the general election.
