Dover, NH - Eddie Edwards, candidate for Congress in New Hampshire’s 1st Congressional District, released the following statement regarding the House of Representatives taking the first step to lift the burden of Obamacare:
"I strongly applaud the United States House of Representatives for taking a positive step towards real healthcare reform, while also cutting taxes and reducing spending. After years of deliberation, Congress has listened to the American people. The bill wasn't perfect, but this vote was an important first step in the process. Ideally, Congress will put a bill on President Donald Trump's desk that will give all Americans the option to obtain high-quality, affordable, and accessible healthcare.
"It is also important to remember that the Republican-led House was forced to act due to the consistent failures of the disaster known as Obamacare. Because of Congresswoman Carol Shea-Porter's vote in 2010, Granite Staters have been saddled with skyrocketing premiums and fewer choices. Shockingly, she recently has begun advocating for an even more extreme alternative known as a public option. Carol Shea-Porter has made, and will continue to make, healthcare in this country worse, not better.
"Despite a trajectory of failures, Congresswoman Shea-Porter has blindly followed Nancy Pelosi in support of Obamacare every step of the way. She should have instead stood with a majority of her constituents who have opposed it from the beginning and worked on their behalf towards free market healthcare reform solutions that would benefit all Americans. That's the type of representation residents of the First District want and deserve."
