Eddie Edwards, the only announced Republican candidate for Congress, said Trump’s budget is a work in progress to reduce the federal bureaucracy and help people keep more of what they earn. He knocked Shea-Porter, whom he hopes to unseat in the 1st District. “She would rather lob partisan attacks instead of using her time to find common ground with the President and Republicans in Congress,” Edwards said. “I am truly disappointed that regardless of the issue, she consistently puts her personal political opinions before the best interests of the Granite Staters she was elected to represent.”
Edwards this week picked up endorsements from Belknap County Sheriff Michael Moyer, Conway GOP activists Jim and Theresa Gallagher, and former Dover city councilor and state Rep. David Scott. Scott called Edwards a constitutional conservative. “He believes that government should serve the people, not the other way around, and has spoken out forcefully that congressional terms should be limited and members of Congress should be forced to live by the same laws that they pass,” Scott said.
