"What is happening right here in Manchester's own VA Hospital is disgraceful and unacceptable."
The Boston Globe published an extremely concerning story over the weekend weekend titled, A four-star veterans' hospital: 'Care gets worse and worse'.
In it, the paper reports on multiple physicians and medical employees who have contacted a federal whistle-blower agency to say that the Manchester VA Hospital is endangering patients.
In response, Eddie Edwards, candidate for Congress in NH-01, released the following statement:
"I learned many important life lessons serving my country: Sacrifice, commitment, honor, and integrity are chief among them. What is happening right here in Manchester's own VA Hospital is disgraceful and unacceptable to me. Our veterans have given up so much to protect the freedoms we all enjoy. The least we can do is honor their sacrifice by keeping our commitments.
"I am grateful for those who had the courage to stand up and expose these failures, and I am heartened by the swift action and promised results of U.S. Secretary of Veterans Affairs, David Shulkin. However, this cannot just be a whirlwind story that grabs headlines and then goes quietly away. These men and women have served us, and it is incumbent on Congresswoman Carol Shea-Porter and the rest of our federal delegation to make sure that we do right by them. Granite Staters can be assured that I will continue to be a leader fighting for what is right and standing vigilant for our veterans."
