Edwards applauds New Hampshire Attorney General's Office's action regarding Purdue Pharma

August 9, 2017

"I strongly believe that it is critical for us to hold those who have created the foundation for opioid addiction accountable for their actions. The lack of integrity in these practices has been nothing short of appalling and it is time that New Hampshire families are treated fairly and told the truth."

Dover, NH - As reported by the New Hampshire Union Leader, the Attorney General’s Office has sued "prescription pain pill maker Purdue Pharma, charging it deceptively marketed OxyContin and other medications that led to patients getting hooked on heroin and fueling the state’s opioid epidemic."

In response, Eddie Edwards, candidate for Congress in NH-01, released the following statement:

"I applaud the leadership of the New Hampshire Attorney General’s Office in their effort to hold Purdue Pharma accountable for their marketing practice of OxyContin.

"As a former law enforcement Drug Recognition Expert Instructor, I can tell you firsthand that the public servants working on this issue have been actively warning us about the problems with prescription opioids and their direct link to Big Pharma. They have been highlighting the connection between the marketing practices of drug companies, prescription opioid addiction, and the illegal drug crisis for years.

"I strongly believe that it is critical for us to hold those who have created the foundation for opioid addiction accountable for their actions. The lack of integrity in these practices has been nothing short of appalling and it is time that New Hampshire families are treated fairly and told the truth."
