Dover, NH – Derek Dufresne, a general consultant working with Eddie Edwards in NH-01, made the following statement in response to Congresswoman Carol Shea-Porter's (D, NH-01) vote against bipartisan legislation to end the government shutdown:
“Without the concern of re-election, Congresswoman Carol Shea-Porter has decided to align herself with the most extreme Members of Congress as a result of her vote against a bipartisan bill to end the government shutdown. While it’s disappointing, it isn’t surprising. Regrettably, the Congresswoman has spent much of her political career showing little interest in finding common ground to achieve real results for the American people.
“While Congresswoman Carol Shea-Porter might not be up for re-election this November, we deserve to hear from the handful of Democrats who are vying for her party’s nomination on this important vote. These individuals have praised Congresswoman Shea-Porter’s legacy, which will be remembered as an incredibly unproductive and divisive one. Granite Staters deserve to know if those Democrats who hope to replace her as their nominee will be just as uncompromising as she was."
