Dover, NH – Eddie Edwards, Republican candidate for Congress in NH-01, has won his second consecutive straw poll Saturday at the Coalition of New Hampshire Tax Payers picnic.
With 62% of the vote, Edwards received more than twice the amount of votes than his closest Republican primary opponent, State Senator Andy Sanborn who received 29% of the vote. Bruce Crochetiere had 8% of the vote..
The CNHT straw poll, which was held in Hillborough, is the second straw poll of the cycle in NH-01 and the second victory for Edwards.
Eddie Edwards, a former police chief and U.S. Navy veteran, issued the following statement:
“On the heels of our second consecutive straw poll victory, I am truly proud of the momentum we continue to build as we head into the summer months of this important campaign for Congress. Republicans are tired of politicians and individuals who seek to use an office as a career or stepping stone for ambition. They are yearning for a conservative outsider who understands the importance of service and sacrifice.
“Our team understands the necessary role that the grassroots has in a race. We have the largest list of announced public supporters, I have campaigned in every city and town in NH-01, and I am the only one, regardless of party affiliation, holding open and honest town hall meetings with the voters. We have the best organization to mobilize those committed conservatives who will be the heart of the team we will need to defeat whomever the liberal base of the Democratic Party nominates here in NH-01. We look forward to building on today’s victory and will continue to march towards victory in September and November.”
