Dover, NH – Eddie Edwards has secured the endorsement of former United States Senator Bob Smith (R, NH), former NHGOP Vice Chairman and Manchester GOP Chairman Cliff Hurst, as well as a strong group of additional activists outlined below.
Edwards has secured the most endorsements in the Republican Primary in NH-01 with 305 county co-captains who have publicly announced their support.
Edwards is also the only candidate holding public town hall meetings and was the first to have campaigned in each and every one of the 80 towns and cities in NH-01. His grassroots campaign has had extremely strong showings at the two straw polls held thus far in NH-01. He won the Coalition of New Hampshire Taxpayers Picnic straw poll with 62% of the vote and the New Hampshire Federation of Republican Women’s Luncheon straw poll with 68% of the vote.
“Granite Staters are truly ready for a conservative outsider who understands the importance of service over self. Eddie Edwards has spent his life sacrificing for our nation as a veteran of the United States Navy and a former Police Chief. Rather than looking at a seat in Congress as another stepping stone in a political career, Eddie views it as an extension of his service. We need more of that mindset in Washington.
“Eddie has spent the past year touring NH-01, holding town hall meetings, and discussing the important issues with actual voters. I’ve listened to his conservative message of limited government, less spending, and a renewed attention to ensure that our men and women who have worn the uniform are dutifully taken care of when they come home. I have listened to all of the candidates, but time and time again, Eddie truly stands out. I am honored to lend my support to Eddie Edwards and his fight to reform Washington. I will be working hard to ensure he represents NH-01 in Congress next year."
- Former United State Senator Bob Smith of Tuftonboro
Senator Bob Smith served in the United States Senate representing New Hampshire from 1990 to 2003. Previously, he was a United State Congressman representing NH-01 from 1985 to 1990. He served in the United States Navy Reserve from 1962 to 1965 and was on active duty from 1965 to 1967, including a year in Vietnam. He remained in the Navy Reserve until 1969.
“I have long admired Eddie Edwards’ character, conviction, and integrity. He truly has an incredible life story and the rare ability to articulate a conservative message in a way that unites all Americans, which is a quality we desperately need in our leaders right now. He will fight for our veterans, work to end the opioid epidemic, and ensure we have fiscal policies that promote growth and economic prosperity.
“I am confident that Eddie Edwards will be an outstanding Congressman and someone we in NH-01 can be very proud of. He has my complete and full support in his campaign for Congress.”
- Former NHGOP Vice Chairman & Former Manchester GOP Chairman Cliff Hurst of Manchester
In addition to being the former NHGOP Vice Chairman and former Manchester GOP Chairman, Hurst was the co-chairman for former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee's, Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker's, and Florida Senator Marco Rubio’s presidential campaigns in New Hampshire.
