"To nominate Senator Sanborn would all but ensure that another Democrat will represent our district in Congress next year and we can't afford that."
- State Senator Sharon Carson
Dover, NH – State Senators Sharon Carson & Regina Birdsell endorsed Eddie Edwards for Congress at a press conference today in Manchester. Both State Senators have served with Eddie's opponent, State Senator Andy Sanborn, in the State Senate for years. As discussed in today's press conference, it is quite telling that only one of State Senator Sanborn's colleagues in the State Senate has endorsed him. They know that a scandal-ridden candidate does not deserve to be the Republican nominee and have therefore put their steadfast support behind Eddie.
“This election is so incredibly important. It is crucial for us to send a Republican to Congress to fight for NH-01 on our behalf. Eddie Edwards has the tenacity and conservative conviction that I have the utmost respect for. I know Eddie well, and I am certain that he will serve honorably in Congress.
“I also know Senator Andy Sanborn very well as I have served alongside him for quite some time. The way he has conducted himself on many occasions in Concord is incredibly distressing to me and does not reflect our party’s values. That is why I strongly believe that it is imperative for Republicans and Independents in NH-01 to come together and support Eddie Edwards. To nominate Senator Sanborn would all but ensure that another Democrat will represent our district in Congress next year and we can’t afford that. Eddie has the honesty and integrity we need in Washington. He has my complete and full support in his race for Congress.” - State Senator Sharon Carson (R, Londonderry)
Senator Sharon Carson has been in the New Hampshire State Senate since 2008. Before becoming Senator, she served as a Londonderry State Representative from 2000 until 2008. She served in the U.S. Army and the Army Reserve and retired in 1995 after 17 years of service.
“Eddie Edwards’ life story is truly an American one. He had a rough start in a family riddled with domestic abuse and drugs. Fortunately, Eddie’s grandmother eventually raised him. She instilled in him the values of integrity, honor, and hard work. Eddie pulled himself up by his bootstraps and eventually joined the United States Navy and later law enforcement. He has spent his entire life giving back to our state and nation. I have the utmost respect for that.
“As a veteran myself, I strongly believe that anyone who equates service in the United States Military and law enforcement as part of the Washington swamp does not deserve to represent me on Capitol Hill. I have been incredibly disappointed by the type of campaign Senator Andy Sanborn has been running. Granite Staters deserve a conservative Congressman they can be proud of. We also need a nominee who can win in November. That is why I am very proud to be supporting Eddie Edwards for Congress.” - State Senator Regina Birdsell (R, Hampstead)
Senator Regina Birdsell has been in the New Hampshire State Senate since 2014. Before becoming Senator, she served as a New Hampshire State Representative, representing Hampstead and Kingston. She comes from a military family and joined in the tradition of public service set by her father, a retired Army Lt. Colonel, by joining the United States Coast Guard.
