Eddie Edwards Wins NHPR Candidate Forum

October 10, 2018

Dover, NH – Eddie Edwards, the Republican nominee for New Hampshire's 1st Congressional District, was the clear winner of today's NHPR candidate forum.

General consultant Derek Dufresne issued the following statement:

"In the first debate of the general election in NH-01, Eddie Edwards solidly proved why he is best poised to be the voice of the district in Congress next year. As an independent conservative, he outlined how he would fight for lower taxes, less spending, and reduced debt and deficits. He explained plans to combat the opioid epidemic, improve services to our veterans, and ensure social security is protected for our seniors.

"In contrast, as a member of the #Resist movement, Councilor Chris Pappas proved that he only seeks to go to Washington to further divide our nation and obstruct President Trump and Congressional Republicans. When asked to put a price tag on the massive government spending programs he hopes to implement, Councilor Pappas was unable to do so. He articulated support for universal healthcare and advocated for more initiatives that would hurt small businesses in our state and country. None of this is in line with what New Hampshire hopes to see out of their next representative in Congress.

"We deserve so much better than another career politician who has been on the ballot 18 times. We need a bold leader who understands that who he is as an individual does not make him special. It is what that individual does for his family, state, and nation that makes him special. The voters of NH-01 understand that they need someone who will continue a commitment to service rather than one who views this election as another advancement in his political career. As we get even closer to Election Day, Granite Staters continue to become more assured as to why they need Eddie Edwards in Washington fighting on New Hampshire's behalf."
